The answer is *maybe*. If the table names are unique then yes, it can be done. If both proggies try to use the same table name within the data base then they will corrupt each other.

It's actually quite good, alot better since the last time I tried it! I think it's beating phpBB 2.0.6 now.

Ahh, I love playing with free forums. ^_^

And the installation with both on the same database went without a hitch. Thanks to phpbb using the prefix phpbb_ for all its tables. ^_^

does invisionboard give you the option to put a prefix to the tables? some databases do .. like e107 .. that is a nice feature.

here would be the possible problem:

1. lets say that both forums name a table "users" which holds the user information. this would be a major problem.

2. lets say that you decide to delete 1 bulletin board... how do you know what tables belong to what bb?

3. i know the contraction 'lets' needs an appostrophie between the t and the s .. but too bad =)

btw . i think i should read this board more often now .. i forgot how active it is .. you guys rock =P

phpbb had the prefix and option to change it, although I did not see the option for Invision. I will look at the database through phpmyadmin later and see if it was added by default or if there isn't any prefix at all.

6.6 is due for release soon with a redesigned control panel. It doesn't really offer anything in the way of ground breaking features or improvements in the file system. I'll upgrade Netwerkin just for whatever security it may add but I wouldn't recommend that new site owners use it. It I could find a way to use one of the .net/SQL solutions without losing smilies or posts etc. I would convert in a heartbeat.

I think it's very hard to not loose the smilies in a conversion, but how about if you add them to the software before a conversion with the same exact smilies codes? Would it work then?
