My work computer will not fire up. I get a repeating beep. When I go into the BIOS it does not recognize that there is a hard drive.....only the CDRW and Floppy drive. It's an older ASUS A7V, 1.4 Processor mobo with a gig of PC133. I'm thinking the hard drive crapped out. Any ideas? XP tries to start sometimes but in the last effort XP just sat there trying to load. Help me Mr. Wizard. [Frown]

OK, I read where the beep could be indicative of a RAM problem. So for grins I reseated the RAM sticks and now it works. Go figure! [rolleyes]

Update.....It looks like one of the Ram sticks went bad somehow?!?! I had the same problem the next morning. So I took out all the RAM but one and restarted etc....after the second stick I restarted and everything has been running fine. The question is.....the stick or the slot? I just don't feel like trying either now and failing. It's a computer at work. If it were mine at home I'd take it further. -
