My laptop is very laggy at times. I haven't even installed that much and its still laggy and very annoying. defragging.. well I tried it but after hours it still wasn't finished so I gave up. And I tend to hibernate too much, only adds to the problem because it takes 5 minutes to boot the damn thing up.
use a minimum install, really install only necessary programs.. look for low resource alternatives (firefox instead of explorer, thunderbird instead of outlook etc.) check the settings for optimal under performance save your pagefile on a different drive, use ntfs
make sure there is good air circulation around (under) your laptop, disable powerstep function if they are installed (bios).
check which services are installed, disable unnecessary ones.
check under the task manager which processes are running, look at the frirst top 10.. anything yu dont recognise? whats the memory tab looking like?, is it caching ?`
I used CC cleaner, didn't do much. Unless I shut down and restart my computer everytime I use it, it goes slowish. But it takes so long to start (4-5 minutes) that I don't bother, I guess that's whats causing it.
