So far, I appear to have two volunteers to handle German translation (for 5.3.2) and Spanish (for 6.x).
As a test of the prototype support code (will remain developmental until LDE(X)6.1), I've made beta 3 available a few days earlier than originally planned. This should allow the translators to poke the bodywork and kick the tyres before I forget about it
Beta 3 has some changes that will be useful to others as well (including fairly complete documentation), but generally it will be of most interest to potential translators.

Compared to 6.0 (a major upgrade), it's really just a small update to 6.01 (or 6.02) - refinements and minor fixes. There won't be a major update for some time since the translators have faded away, the only real motive for a 6.1 update. There's not much else to be done except kill the occasional bug that gets identified.
LDE(X) stable is now 6.04c LDE(X) developmental is now 6.05
Partial/near complete German translations are in 6.04 (requires manual activation of alternative languages) and in 6.05 (interface-based language change).
6.05 will become 6.1 by the end of 2003. Although the majority of the planned changes are already in place, I'm waiting on stabilised modules and other support files to become available.

Not really a machine, but just working towards an eventual (predicted to be totally final) 6.1 release by the end of the year. The technical ground work is all done and as such most of the true development work has been completed and anything other than the translation work and bug fixing (that will complete 6.1) would be better created by the user base, such as it is. I'm hoping that there will be a few offshoots from this work eventually as well, although the LS world seems to be getting increasing quiet these days as more people move to linux or Mac platforms.
Hmmm, the install was flawless, you've cleaned it up a lot. I do have a problem though. Whenever I click on a My Computer link it pulls up the XP taskbar. I don't remember it ever doing that before. I installed the "c" update and restarted and same thing (though the update was an .rc file I still gave it a shot).

Sounds like a registry glitch; occasionally it happens on XP/2K machines for no apparent reason. Use the LiteStep installer located in LDE(X)\UI\Ermintrude2\Utils\Win2KInstaller and point it at ShellOn and this should fix the problem. If not, you'll need to check the registry keys documented in LDE(X)\UI\Ermintrude2\Documentation\ReleaseNotes\LiteStep and windows 2000.html
It seems to be a side effect of the various ways that shells and interfaces can be loaded from the registry - if a setting gets out of whack, it can cause problems. It may also help if you set Explorer to run in a separate process by accessing Tools/Options/Advanced from any open window (e.g. My Computer).
In almost all cases, you'll need a reboot or log off/log in cycle to make the changes work.
